Reduce project risk, limit surprises, and save money with Urban X infrastructure intelligence
A comprehensive and detailed map of an existing underground utility network is beneficial to any design/construction project. Incorporate Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) into your next project and reveal the local underground utility network and other concealed features that could impact your design.
The SUE Process
SUE is an engineering process following the ASCE 38-02 guideline to ascribe attributes to underground utility information via four Quality Levels (QL). This process provides design teams with professionally stamped composite subsurface utility drawings. Better information means a better design which leads to more effective, productive, and safer construction.

QL-D
Utility Record Research
Systematically contacting facility owners to obtain their information and rendering these data on a digital base plan

QL-C
Appurtenance Survey
A digital field survey of all visible utility appurtenances.

QL-B
Geophysical Survey
A digitally captured field survey to verify the utility record information and designate the actual position of known and unknown underground utilities within the work area.

QL-A
Physical Exposure of Target Utilities
Typically completed by vacuum excavation where precise horizontal and vertical measurements (location, elevation, extent, width, depth, thickness, composition, etc.) are mission-critical to your design considerations.
ABOUT US
Founded in 2017, Urban X is exclusively focused on providing Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services and the application of geophysical technologies for underground imaging. We strive to be the most reliable provider of accurate underground infrastructure intelligence in Ontario.
Focused on providing clients with accurate and reliable underground utility information, our data is secured through documented processes to ensure a comprehensive understanding of underground structures and facilities. Field verification is completed with the latest available technologies. All information is captured and rendered using industry best practice guidelines, ASCE 38-02 and CSA S250-11.
The Urban X team has completed hundreds of SUE projects for public and private sector clients since 2017, however, many of our key team members have been affiliated with each other in the delivery of SUE projects for more than 20 years and bring that extensive experience to every assignment. We remain focused on the delivery of professional SUE services and continue to provide transformative digital measurements and strengthened project delivery capabilities that our clients have come to expect.
